Sc. 4910-11 Civil War - 1864 on a 5”x7 Dragon Card reproducing an 1864
political cartoon contrasting Democratic presidential candidate George
B. McClellan’s military accomplishments against those of his successor
as commander of the Army of the Potamac, Gen. Ulysses S. Grant. Lincoln
badly needed some Union victories if he was to win reelection. The
cartoon references the siege of Petersburg, so the pair of stamps has
the Petersburg Digital Color Postmark. Great for a Civil War- or
military-on-stamps collection!
