Dragon Cards: Gregory Peck
Dragon Cards first day covers

Dgn 406b Gregory Peck — $3.50

Sc. 4526 Gregory Peck on a 5"x7" Dragon Card showing Atticus Finch (Peck) in thought during the courtroom scene of "To Kill A Mockingbird." With Martha Graham/Choreographers stamp (Sc. 384). In 1940, Peck was a student at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York and Graham was a movement instructor. One day she felt he wasn't stretching enough. "Come along, Greg, you can do better than that," she said, and put her knee in his back, and pushed. There was a loud pop, and Peck had a ruptured disk and displaced vertebra. That injury kept Peck out of World War II, and he was able to establish himself as a young leading actor while others were in the military. Also, his daughter Cecilia danced for Martha Graham's company. Great for a movies- or entertainment-on-stamps collection!
