Back in 1999, when the Celebrate the Century 1960s stamps came out, my printer at the time wouldn't print fewer than 50. I only wanted to service 25 for the CTC Moon Landing stamp. But like any good collector, I couldn't throw away the other 25 cards. These are those cards, with the 2019 stamps.

Also back in the not-so-good old days, multicolored printing was prohibitively expensive, and using any color ink other than black cost $25 — to wash the colored ink off the press after use. So I hit upon the idea of printing the five CTC 1960s designs on brightly colored cardstock, using "psychedelic"colors." Others used were yellow-green (Star Trek), bright yellow (Beatles), orange (Martin Luther King and the March on Washington), and bright turquoise (Roger Maris' 61st home run).

In 1998, at age 77, he became the oldest person to fly into space up to that point, as part of a shuttle crew.
